Current News!

Oct. 5th, 2008: We are getting close to Halloween and all of the fun that goes with it!
We have reservations for Gyukaku at 6pm. I did set aside seats for a few more, so get your emails to us ASAP so we know if there is room. All those who just show up, and we dont have room for you, will be at the mercy of the ABC store food gods until we are done there. Trust me, you'll be missing out on the good food at Gyukaku! Also, as a reminder that there will be NO MEETING for the month of October, as we are doing so many events we really will have our fill of anime fun for this month! We also will be posting pictures of us getting ready for Halloween, with pictures in the gallery. Today's upload is the picture of Mari's new saw from "School Day's" and the character Katsura.

Sept. 15th, 2008: Karaoke on the 28th, and an announcement for Halloween outing...
Anyone interested in some Karaoke fun on sunday, the 28th, please let us know so we can get a head count. We've been going quite often, and we can now announce a prize for our Halloween outing! When we are at GS studio, we will have a karaoke contest! Prizes for the BEST and WORST karaoke singer! You will be judged by your peers, so if you want to practice before hand come to our scheduled practice sessions.

Sept. 9th, 2008: Next meeting is on the 20th...
Also, anyone wanting to go to the Aiea Library anime club meeting prior to this meeting, let us know. Also, news for the MechaHawaii trivia game event and the Halloween outing will be discussed at the meeting as well. We will be needing a head count for dinner by the 30th of this month, so please start planning for Halloween now.

July 21st, 2008: Fun at the Hawaii All Collectors Show...
We were once again invited by Wayne and Ilene to their show, with the Pacific Outpost 501st Star Wars troop and Maria Harr and the Anime United group. Friday night, was fun as usual with Kell Komatsubara in his "Captain Harlock" costume walking around avoiding arrest by the 501st. Saturday, more fun ensued as most of us changed costumes every two to three hours! We'll be back again next year with more cosplay and even cooler collectibles on display!

Mission Statement
We of the Oahu Anime Explorer believe that the desire to learn is paramount when attempting to learn about Japanese language and culture. By promoting an interest in Anime and Manga we believe that we will also create the desire to learn more about Japan and its people. We believe that by seeking out and presenting the latest Anime and by showing it both in its original language as well as with the most accurate translations we can increase interest in and understanding of the Japanese and their culture. We also hope to improve the understanding of the Japanese language through exposure to it. We of the OAE also believe that by seeking other activities such as travel, participation in cultural events and exposure to other media such as live-action programs we can further gain understanding and appreciation of the Japanese culture. We of the OAE wish to increase contact and interchange between all fans of Anime and Manga. To this end we wish to act as liaison between Anime and Japanese clubs of all kinds throughout the islands.

OK ANIME

Anime in the Limelight...

They are back! Max and the Anime in the Limelight are back on the internet radio waves! Since 1997, former J.A.S.H. members and Hawaii residents now residing in Las Vegas  were putting on this radio show for all anime  otakus in Hawaii. Recently, these guys pulled up stakes and moved to Sin City. Now, in 2008 they restarted the show and here it is! I've know Max for the longest time, and when he's back in Hawaii we always have a great time with the gang here. Hopefully, you will enjoy this internet radio show as much as we do!

HenshinTV.com

HenshinTV is a web TV program, focusing in on the japanese pop culture in the United States. This site is still in the building process, but we have seen the previews and the show looks very promising. Also, our own Yoshiki Takahashi will be doing some guest commentary on future episodes dealing with Hawaii's japanese pop culture.
