Feb. 11th, 2011: The year looks to be a busy one!
This year, we'll be going to AM2, in Anaheim, California. Also, there is HEX-XP, and assisting the AniMaid Cafe and AZAMIpro with the music video project. Also, this is a call out to any members, who want to be a part of an ongoing movie project with Yoshiki Takahashi of AZAMIpro. He is looking for those who'd like to help out as grips, and assistants to the movie project. He said this movie project will take about a year to shoot, and is aimed for film festivals and mainland anime conventions. Let us know if anyone is interested and we will get you with him.

Feb. 10th, 2011: Video for Guest of honor Takashi O'hashi...
...for the 2011 HEX-XP, Japanese guitar legend Takashi O'hashi will be coming to debut his music video project, "Child of Nature". Here is a short clip of him playing "Fire after Fire" with H.E. Demon Kogure. Click for Video HERE!

Jan. 13th, 2011: The new year is upon us!
Once again, we survived the new years celebration, fingers intact. This year will be a busy year for us, as we embark upon the new AM2-Anime, Manga and Music convention in Anaheim. Also, year two of HEXXP brings us a diverse universe of Anime, Sci-fi and Indies films to cosplay! And of course, there is Kawaii Kon, for those of us who are die hard anime cosplayers. Also, friend to the OAE, Yoshiki Takahashi is starting his new movie project with the Ninja Monkeys, and will probably involve people from the anime club as well. Lets all have a good "Year of the Rabbit", and make all of our dreams and hopes come true!

July 22nd, 2010: Story of AX Masquerade 2010
In the special projects section, we posted the article of this years Anime Expo Masquerade skit we participated in. Once again, club members Kell Komatsubara, and Mari Okazaki joined forces with Flo, Dani, Mark, Ethan, Kie, and Kevin for a FATE STAY NIGHT skit. It was epic enough to get runner up for BEST PRESENTATION, and this year, there were a lot of awesome skits to compete against.

July 15th, 2010: In Memoriam. Peter Fernandez
Voice actor Peter Fernandez, better known as the voice of Speed Racer, died today from complications of lung cancer. He was 83 years old. He also wrote the lyrics to the American version of the SPEED RACER song, along with voices for shows like Star Blazers: Bolar Wars, Gigantor, and Astro Boy. The family said that there will be a celebration of Peter Fernandez' life in Pomona, New York. Check in with the Anime News Network for more updated information.

July 12th, 2010: Reminder, HEXX volunteer day is this saturday!
Kotohira Jinsha temple in Kalihi will be hosting the first volunteer day this saturday at 3pm. Ron said drinks will be provided, and they will be taking all applications for all open positions for the convention.

July 11th, 2010: Next meeting will be on July 24th.
This will be the last night of Durarara!! as it is going to be picked up shortly. Be sure to pick it up in the stores when it hits the shelves shortly.

June 15th, 2010: This weekends meeting is cancelled.
We are going to reschedule the meeting for July 24th, as there is a family emergency the club president is attending to at this time. We will continue the playlist then, and may do a GS studio outing after the meeting. We will let everyone know more when the info becomes available.

June 8th, 2010: EXP is now HEXXP-con...
Finding that a Florida based convention is already called EXP, Ron Kaneshige has decided to change the name to HEXXP, or Hawaii Entertainment Expo. Also, Ron emailed us that he is planning on stopping by for the June 19th meeting to fill everyone in on what is new with the convention. He asked if we can have questions and ideas ready for him so he can answer and take the ideas and see if he can make them a reality.

May 25th, 2010: Next meeting is on June 19th...
Yeah, early yeah? Well, we are leaving for Anime Expo the following weekend to practice for the Masquerade so wish us luck and can bring home the gold!

April 29th, 2010: ANIME EXPO anyone?
If anyone is going to Anime Expo, let us know. Once again, our Hawaii contingent meets up with our local transplants in L.A. and Arizona for AX's Masquerade. Let us know if you are going, and we can meet up for a gathering!

April 29th, 2010: KARAOKE this saturday!
It is the J-Rock Memorial Day, so we will be at GS Studio on May 1st from 8pm. If you intend on attending, please email us at info@oahuanimeexplorer.com so we can get the appropriate room for the event.

April 28th, 2010: Halloween preparations begin NOW!
If anyone wants a costume made by QQCOSPLAY, the official costume maker for our club, please send all information to us ASAP. Last date to order to guarantee delivery to Hawaii is Sept. 29th. After that, it will be a roll of the dice if you get it here in time. If anyone has any plans of doing a "Gathering", let us know so we can get the word out for you.

April 6th, 2010: Next meeting, April 24th.
We will begin showing the new shows for this upcoming season, and are looking them over right now for which is the best to view. Also, May 1st, is a karaoke session. We'll talk about that more at the meeting as well!

Mar. 2nd, 2010: Celebrating the 10th Anniversary...
...of the Pacific 501st legion! Tory and the troopers celebrated their tenth anniversary of enforcing order 66 in the State of Hawaii. Held at Zippy's Makiki, Tory took role and conducted their yearly meeting. After that, it was time to eat, then had some cake to celebrate the occasion. May the force be with you all!

Ron said he'd answer any questions about the convention, and also be there to hear any ideas and even listen to issues you may have run into at other conventions across the nation. It is his wish to get as much info as possible, so they can bring the attendees an awesome convention experience.

Yes, we converted to mac power for playing our shows! With it's faster processor, and utilizing better signals to the projector, we now get a much clearer and sharper view of our favorite anime! Also, we are making plans for Anime Expo, and a quick trip to Japan at the end of November for the live action movie Uchuu Senkan Yamato... Check back here for more details as we get them!

Jan. 12th, 2010: Yeah we been slacking again.
Well, I hope we all had a good new years, and yes the JCCH New Years Festival was awesome as usual. We have a lot of new ideas for 2010, including doing some fan films of our favorite animes and manga! Come to the meetings, and we can discuss what we might want to shoot as a club.

Nov. 3rd, 2009: Halloween is now over!
Okay, did everyone get enough Karaoke, food, and fun for the night? I hope you are planning for next year already, cause some of us already are! LOL! Anyways, the next big event for us will be our XMAS party in December. Set for Dec. 12th at the Higashi Hongwanji in Kaneohe, Shoken Sensei and his group have allowed us to use their hall once again for the fun! We will also be looking into GS and a night in Waikiki once again as well. We'll keep you all informed of all updates.

August 14th, 2009: Man we been slacking!
The demands of our normal jobs, plus our film commitments have taken it's toll on the website, but rest assured. We haven't gone away! In fact, we are just getting into high gear for the year! Next event will be the MechaHawaii event on the saturday before Halloween, and then Halloween itself! We will be posting more info on all of this shortly!

July 11th, 2009: Back home from AX!
Yes, we are back, and now getting ready for the Hawaii All Collectors Show. We will be hosting the cosplay contest, with the grand prize being a Black Widow Statue from Kotobukiya Toys and Collectibles, along with COSPLAY TV. Also, some other cool prizes from Manga University. We hope to see you all there! May 18th, 2009: A YouTube clip... Yes, we now have a small clip of some of the fun we have at GS Studio for Karaoke! May 12th, 2009: THE RETURN OF THE KARAOKE KING!
Yes folks, Adrian Martin is returning to Hawaii in June. I guess the call of local food and mom brings him back for vacation, so we get to have a night out with him at GS studio! We have once again reserved room 2, and we are looking at either Yoshiya's or Gyukaku for dinner. We will be talking about this at this weekends meeting.

April 13th, 2009: MAN WE BEEN SLACKING AGAIN!
Sorry everyone! The webmaster been out of town for the past two weeks, and wont be back until next week. We will NOT be having a meeting this month due to there was already Kawaii Kon, and absence of some members. However, we will be having two events in May. May 2nd, we will be doing dinner and Karaoke in Waikiki, memorializing the late J-Rock god Hideto "hide" Matsumoto, and just to make up for not having a meeting in April. We will be announcing the date for the next meeting shortly, but tentatively it will be May 16th. Also, last chance for anyone wanting to go to Anime Expo. You've already missed the early entry fee, but by the end of this month we will be doing final booking of plane and hotels. Email for more information! Until next update, JYA!

March 30th, 2009: Have fun at Kawaii Kon!
Have fun cosplaying at this years Kawaii Kon! Don't forget to visit Jon J. Murakami in Artist Alley and MechaHawaii in the dealers room(Sean has some neat surprises to debut there!). We are still debating on having a meeting this month due to the convention and several members being away on trips, but we will be posting a special event for the beginning of May.

March 24th, 2009: MECHAHAWAII THIS SATURDAY!
Don't forget! This saturday is MechaHawaii's special cosplay event! Twenty entries and winner take all! We will be there enjoying the cosplaying and cameraderie with everyone again! See ya all at 6pm!

March 24th, 2009: Not too soon to be planning Halloween!
Yes, it may seem like a far way off, but we look forward to this so much we start planning right after Halloween! We will be making some changes to better suit the masses, and also to allow more people to have fun on that night. We will be posting info for it sometime in the following months, but we are set for Gyukaku and GS again! Start thinking of your cosplay. We may be doing an inhouse costume contest, with some interesting prizes!

March 22nd, 2009: Another new show added...

We will start playing Amatsuki to see how everyone likes the show. We played two episodes this past meeting, and we will show two more next meeting.

March 18, 2009: Added new show!
Haruhi-chan no Yuutsu, a mini episode version of the Suzumiya Haruhi franchise is playing in Japan and we will be bringing this to the next meeting.

March 13th, 2009: Next meeting...
March 21st, at HMC. Sorry, we been slacking in the website. I've been down with the cold and trying to get the Gordon Rider film done. Hopefully we'll be more on it next month.

February 10th, 2009: Next meeting...
We will be meeting on the 21st, at HMC as usual. We will be playing Maria+Holic at the end of the night, and perhaps some of the clips from the short film we are working on as well.

January 18th, 2009: Want to be like Hikaru no GO?
Well, you won't get to have a cool ghost like Fujiwara no Sai over your shoulder, but you'll get a chance to challenge players from all over the world. Sid Kobashigawa of the Hawaii GO club, sent me this interesting email, that there will be a Youth GO Challenge sponsored by the ING Foundation. If anyone is interested in this, please contact Sid Kobashigawa at SHK@Hawaii.rr.com. The deadline to enter is Feb. 8th.

January 13th, 2009: Welcome to the new year!

Yes, we've been slacking on updating the site with all the of the new years partys and events happening around town. Now that the JCCH's New Years Ohana Festival is over, it's time to get back to the business of anime and manga! Once again, thanks to Stephanie and Cherise from the JCCH for coordinating the cultural exhibits, and Christy of the JCCH gallery for helping us with the movie showing! We will be back again next year! We have a lot in store again for this year! So be ready for more fun with us!

December 22, 2008: Merry Christmas to all!
On behalf of the board and members of the Oahu Anime Explorer club, we'd like to wish everyone a safe and happy Christmas and New Years! Thanks to all those who showed up to the xmas party, and those who attended the karaoke session after had even more fun! Hope to see you all at the next meeting and at the New Years Ohana festival at the JCCH.

Nov. 24th, 2008: XMAS party information

We will be starting the party at 5pm with talk story time for those who don't get to see everyone all the time, and dinner will start at 6:30pm. After that, Pictionary and Last Man(or woman) standing. Finally, the gift exchange is the last part of the night. Well, at least for the official part of the Xmas Party. At 10pm we will be going to GS studio for Karaoke. Please RSVP ASAP so we can get the room reserved for the right amount of people.

Nov. 23th, 2008: CLANNAD is picked up!
Okay, so it now goes bye bye from our play list. If you enjoyed the series, go pick it up when it hits the shelves in stores! We will be playing Toradora in its place. Also, We ended the tale of Moyashimon! We bid Sawaki and his friends farewell, but hope for another season to come! We are looking for a replacement show for this, but in the mean time, we'll be playing Crystal Blaze at the end of the meeting.

Nov. 4th, 2008: Next meeting is Nov. 22nd...

Also, the Christmas Party is on Dec. 13th. We will have more info on this shortly.


Oct. 27th, 2008: We are almost to Halloween! And a few announcements...
We hope everyone has their cosplay ready! Some of us have been working on their costumes now for six months, and still will be finishing it up near friday. The guitar for the Hide cosplay was just finished tonight at midnight, and we hope it will please Hide-dono. There is a small change to the time at Gyukaku. Due to the potential of high traffic, we have moved back the time for Gyukaku to 6:30pm. Also, we have hit our limit for attendees. If anyone else wants to join us, they will be having to rent a separate room for Karaoke as the party has grown to the max size GS's biggest room can handle. Keep posted here for any new changes to the events of the night.

Oct. 5th, 2008: We are getting close to Halloween and all of the fun that goes with it!
We have reservations for Gyukaku at 6pm. I did set aside seats for a few more, so get your emails to us ASAP so we know if there is room. All those who just show up, and we dont have room for you, will be at the mercy of the ABC store food gods until we are done there. Trust me, you'll be missing out on the good food at Gyukaku! Also, as a reminder that there will be NO MEETING for the month of October, as we are doing so many events we really will have our fill of anime fun for this month! We also will be posting pictures of us getting ready for Halloween, with pictures in the gallery. Today's upload is the picture of Mari's new saw from "School Day's" and the character Katsura.
 


Sept. 15th, 2008: Karaoke on the 28th, and an announcement for Halloween outing...
Anyone interested in some Karaoke fun on sunday, the 28th, please let us know so we can get a head count. We've been going quite often, and we can now announce a prize for our Halloween outing! When we are at GS studio, we will have a karaoke contest! Prizes for the BEST and WORST karaoke singer! You will be judged by your peers, so if you want to practice before hand come to our scheduled practice sessions.

Sept. 9th, 2008: Next meeting is on the 20th...
Also, anyone wanting to go to the Aiea Library anime club meeting prior to this meeting, let us know. Also, news for the MechaHawaii trivia game event and the Halloween outing will be discussed at the meeting as well. We will be needing a head count for dinner by the 30th of this month, so please start planning for Halloween now.

Aug. 17th, 2008: 48hour film challenge...
Yes, the event is finally done! Hopefully we will have the completed footage for the meeting and possible news on a launch of a new website as well.

Aug. 10, 2008: Next meeting, Aug. 23rd...
Yep, the next meeting will be on Aug. 23rd. We will be continuing our showings of Macross Frontier, and Moyashimon...

July 21st, 2008: Fun at the Hawaii All Collectors Show...
We were once again invited by Wayne and Ilene to their show, with the Pacific Outpost 501st Star Wars troop and Maria Harr and the Anime United group. Friday night, was fun as usual with Kell Komatsubara in his "Captain Harlock" costume walking around avoiding arrest by the 501st. Saturday, more fun ensued as most of us changed costumes every two to three hours! We'll be back again next year with more cosplay and even cooler collectibles on display!

July 13th, 2008: AX Masquerade contest story...
Kell Komatsubara posted the story on his adventures in cosplay at AX 2008. It is a pretty in depth view of what it takes to do a skit at Anime Expo, and the fear and thrill of performing in the NOKIA Theater. The story is in the Special Projects page of this website. Click HERE to see it.

July 10th, 2008: Okay, time for some updates!
The next meeting will be on July 26th at HMC Academy starting at 6pm with our ALL NEW 100" projection screen! Also, on the 18th and 19th, we'll be at the Hawaii All Collectors Show doing our best to promote Anime and Manga in Hawaii. At the show, will also be the Pacific 501st Star Wars troop and Anime United. We look forward to working with them and interacting with the crowd. Once again, Thanks to Wayne and Ilene for allowing us to their show. Last but not least, we will be creating a new page shortly to our website. It will be about going to Anime Expo, written by Kell Komatsubara and Alvin Yoshida. We will be also posting a short article on the events of AX2008, and of course, the many pictures we took while at the convention.

May 26th, 2008: Martin-dono! Sayonara!
Well, it seems like it is time to say goodbye to Adrian Martin! His search for greener pastures has led him off to the mainland for work, so we will be holding a SPECIAL karaoke event for him on June 8th as GS Studios. Those who know Adrian, will remember the many different karaoke songs he has entertained us with. On this day, we will be singing WITH HIM! So, feel free to find a song you'd like to sing with Adrian, or if you want to sing a tribute song to him, let us know! We instructed him, to find a song, to sing to US in the end! So email us as soon as possible so we can reserve the party room for the 8th. Yoshiki Takahashi is setting up the details, so please email him at yoshiki@islandcosplay.org

May 21st, 2008: AX announces new guest!
Seki Toshihiko, seiyuu of over 180 different anime will be one of the guests of honor at this years AX. I know several of our members will be running to get their own autographs for Mr. Seki!!! WOOT!

May 9th, 2008: Mistake on the 11th karaoke session...
We kinda overlooked that it was mothers day! So, we will have to cancel it and wait until the 25th. Sorry for the confusion.


May 1st, 2008: For all of the "hide" and X Japan fans...
You all know, May 2nd is the 10th anniversary of Hideto "hide" Matsumoto's death. We will be going to GS Studio for an impromptu memorial service. Our dear hide never left us, as he is always in our hearts and yes, hide will be IN THE HOUSE! Well, maybe not physically, but in spirit and a plushie made for us by Sara Deguchi. We will probably go to eat at Gyukaku before going to GS, so please email us ASAP so we can make dinner reservations.

April 28th, 2008: Karaoke information...
The scheduled dates for sunday karaoke are up! Due to the short period of time we have on sundays, we will be limiting the head count to five so those attending can get maximum sing time. Please email us and let us know if you are attending.

April 27th, 2008: Next meeting will be May 17th, 2008...
Back at home at HMC, we've made some changes to the line up due to the shows being licensed. If you want to see the rest, buy the series when they come out domestically so we can support the companies that make events like Anime Expo, and all other conventions across the United States a possibility! We will be announcing the shows we will preview to you shortly. Also, as a reminder, HALLOWEEN is around the corner as well. So, start thinking what you are going to be doing for our annual Halloween event!

April 5th, 2008: Meeting for April moved to May...
Due to us just coming back from Japan, and Kawaii Kon right around the corner, there are no open dates for us to hold the meeting. However, we will be having a karaoke session on the sunday of Kawaii Kon. Please email us so we know how many people will be attending so we can get the appropriate sized room.

April 4th, 2008: We're back from JAPAN!

March 22nd, 2008: Meeting will be the debut of our movie trailer...
Well, the movie trailer is finally done! We will debut the trailer tonight, but for those who couldn't make the meeting, we will be posting it on youtube and have a link in the special projects section of our website.

Feb 25th, 2008: Next meeting!
March 22nd, at HMC academy! One of the shows is rumored to be licensed, so we are checking on this right now. If it is, we will be replacing it with another new show from Japan. Remember! Support the industry by purchasing the shows you like when they come out on DVD! It's these companies which support things we love such as Anime Expo, and all the stores we shop at.

 Feb. 19th, 2008: Kawaii Kon photo shoot?
For those members interested in meeting up on one of the days and doing a photo shoot outside of the convention center in their best cosplay, let us know. We are working with one of the top local model photographers in Hawaii for this shoot!

Feb 18th, 2008: Anime Expo trip information...
So far, we have Alvin, Mari, Erik, Tracy and Kell going to AX. Anyone else wanting to go needs to get ahold of us ASAP before hotel reservations wont be possible. Jan. 31st, 2008: AX trip info... We will be talking about the trip to AX this June/July at the next meeting. We are looking to put together some kind of package so let us know if you are interested at the next meeting.

Jan. 25th, 2008: Page got hijacked! But it's okay...
Somehow, the news here got erased. Anyways we'll just start this all over again! Next meeting will be on Feb. 9th at HMC Academy. We will be going over final trip information and begin showing some new shows for everyone to see.

Dec. 3rd, 2007: Thanks for coming to the XMAS party!
Ah, it was so wonderful to have everyone come together for our annual xmas party! Hopefully we'll have even more fun in 2008, and we look forward to seeing everyone again at the first meeting in January. We MAY be doing an impromptu cosplay outing for xmas. Info on this will be our shortly if we can secure all the parts needed to make this happen.
